Towards a 4070 Super cohabiting with the non-Super RTX 4070?

Another rumor, again from Boardchannels. This time, we learn that the RTX 4070 will continue to exist alongside the forthcoming RTX 4070 Super. Unlike the RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti, the non-Ti/non-Super 4070 will continue to exist!

The RTX 4070 will not be replaced by the RTX 4070 Super!

RTX 4080 Super

If this new rumor is to be believed, the original card should continue to exist… Unlike the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti, which are due to be phased out in favor of their Super counterparts.

If NVIDIA isn’t replacing its card completely, we imagine it’s for configuration reasons. In fact, when we look at the new card’s configuration, it should offer performance well above that of its non-Super counterpart. In fact, the newcomer features an AD104 GPU with 7168 cuda cores , compared with 5888 cuda cores for the original 4070. In the end, the 4070S will feel more like a 4070 Ti (7680 cuda core) than anything else. There’s no change to the memory, with 12GB of GDDR6 on a 192-bit memory bus.

Now, we’re still wondering about NVIDIA’s potential pricing. Indeed, a 4070 has a recommended retail price of $599, compared with $799 for its Ti counterpart. If prices don’t budge, we can therefore expect a 4070 Ti Super at $800, and why not a 4070S at $699? But that’s if there’s no price cut. In fact, it’s not unlikely that NVIDIA will increase the price of the 4070 Ti Super, given its configuration (AD103, 8448 cuda core).

Anyway, to find out, look out for CES, the supposed launch date of this Super range.
