AMD: ~24% share of client and server CPU market

Looking at AMD today, it’s hard to believe that the company was in poor health. Indeed, with its Zen architecture, the company has managed to pull itself out of a slump, so much so that it now boasts around 24% market share. Little by little, the reds are gaining ground, especially in the first quarter of 2024!

AMD gains ground on Intel!

Looking at the figures published by Mercury Research, the Reds achieved their highest ever market share in the first quarter of 2024. In the consumer sector, where Ryzen processors are sold, the brand posted a 23.9% share. On the server side, the same is true, with a 23.6% share, albeit at a slower pace.

It has to be said that AMD processors are doing very well, especially when compared with Intel’s offering. Despite the launch of a fourteenth generation, the gaming processor of the moment remains the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. On the server side, the Epyc reds are performing very well thanks to their many cores.

However, in the mobile sector, AMD is ceding ground to Intel – not much, but still. In this sector, we can assume that the arrival of Meteor Lake has boosted sales on the blue side.

The company is due to launch its new Ryzen 9000s based on the Zen 5 architecture in the near future, and while performance gains are a matter of debate, it’s not impossible that their launch will boost sales on the red side.
