AMD RX 7000: it’s all over

0

AMD took advantage of Gamescom to present its new RX 7700XT and RX 7800XT. With these two cards, AMD has just declared that the RDNA3 range is complete and that there will be no new RX 7000 cards…with the exception of special editions. This was confirmed by Scott Herkelmann, Senior Vice President of AMD, although the relatively wide price gap between the Radeon RX 7600 with an MSRP of 299 euros and the Radeon RX 7700 XT at 489 euros raises questions.

AMD RX 7000

For AMD, the RDNA3 range is complete: no more new RX 7000

Question: You’ve launched the Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT. Will this complete the RDNA 3 portfolio, or should we expect more cards in the future?

Scott Herkelman: Well, the RDNA 3 portfolio is now complete. So, of all the products we have planned to launch, these are the last products we’ll be launching […] It’s been about a year since we launched the very first RDNA 3 and now, a year later, we’re completing the series.

With RDNA 2 and the Radeon RX 6000, AMD offered a total of nine different models, from the Radeon RX 6400 to the Radeon RX 6900 XT .With RDNA 3, on the other hand, the range will stop at 6 versions (if we count the 7900 GRE). But in all this, we mustn’t forget good old RDNA 2, which could be used to fill the gaps. Rumor has it that AMD has thousands of Navi chips in its baggage, which the reds were unable to sell off during the mining bubble. There’s now talk of a Radeon RX 6750 GRE, which would be an RX 6700 OC at a knock-down price…
