We knew that the RX 7800 and RX 7700 would be announced at Gamescom. However, nothing was certain about the custom cards… Nevertheless, the little cardboard RADEONs bearing the RDNA 3 logo and an August 26 date leave little room for doubt.

Well, now that that’s out of the way, it looks like things will go as follows: announcement of the cards on August 25, so tomorrow, and unveiling of the customs cards the following day, August 26. This can be guessed from the small cardboard cards on display at the ASRock stand. These are installed between motherboards and customized RX 7900s.

With this, we can add the latest teaser from PowerColor. The brand is raising the temperature on its future 7800/7700 (XT) Hellhound. From what we can see, these cards will take up much less space than their 7900 series counterparts, with a footprint slightly larger than 2 slots. Likewise, we’re expecting boards with three fans. All that remains to be seen is whether the PCB will be in-house or customized.

In terms of specifications, we’re expecting an RX 7800 (XT) featuring a Navi 32 GPU with 60 compute units and 3840 stream processors. Its memory is based on 16 GB GDDR6 at 19.5 Gbps, all on a 256-bit memory bus, enabling a bandwidth of 624 GB/s.

As for the RX 7700 (XT), it’s hard to say what the GPU will offer. On the other hand, we can reasonably count on the presence of 12 GB of VRAM. This GDDR6-type VRAM would benefit from a 192-bit bus and a bandwidth of 468 GB/s, thanks to a speed of 19.5 Gbps.

These cards are theoretically expected to rival the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070. We’ll have to wait and see.
