RTX 5880 Ada, the RTX 6000 Ada replacement for China

Initially, the RTX 5880 Ada was spotted in a change note. At the time, however, we didn’t know what its specifications were… But now we do.

RTX 5880 Ada: a card for China!

RTX 5880 AdaFinally, with this model, NVIDIA offers us a card aimed at the Chinese market. Unfortunately, the RTX 6000 Ada is subject to U.S. sanctions and is therefore banned from export.

In order to have a high-end card for the professional sector, the chameleon offers us this model. It incorporates a GPU that is castrated in relation to the 6000 Ada. In fact, the AD102 of this model only offers 14,080 cuda cores, i.e. 110 active SMs out of 144. In fact, its characteristics are lower than those of the RTX 4090 D, which offers 114.

Memory, however, does not seem to have evolved in relation to its Western counterpart. We still find 48 GB of GDDR6. Memory is still based on a 384-bit memory bus, contributing to a memory bandwidth of 960 GB/s.

However, the fact that the GPU has lost 22% of its cuda core, contributes to a drop in computing performance of around 24% in single precision. This new model peaks at 69.3 TFLOP, compared with 91.1 TFLOP for the RTX 6000 Ada. The same applies to RT Core performance and Tensor Core performance, where the figures are down.

Now it remains to be seen how much this card will cost. As a reminder, this RTX Ada Generation range replaces the Quadro series, cards designed for the professional sector. They are useful for 3D modeling, rendering and other tasks.
