1440p gaming rasterisation performance:
Let’s get on with the gaming tests. We’ve used all the graphics cards we thought would be interesting to compare with this NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition in 1440p definition. In the coming weeks, we’ll be bringing you a new type of article, retesting graphics cards from previous generations to find out what they’re still worth in 2025. Our games panel currently consists of 13 titles, and will be growing over the coming weeks.
We have chosen to use the benchmarks built into these games.
Why have we done this? Quite simply to allow you to do the same if you also have a copy of one of these games. It’s a thought-provoking idea that will allow you to compare your results with ours. The number and titles selected have changed slightly, and will increase again over the coming weeks as we get our hands on new games.
What is rasterisation?
Before we start, a quick word about ‘rasterisation’, which is currently the subject of much discussion. Rasterisation is the evaluation of the performance of our graphics cards without using upscaling technologies . We choose a graphics quality, often the highest, and test it. The advantage of these tests is that we can quantify the gains made by the architecture between different generations. In our case, to be able to judge the gains obtained between the architecture of the RTX 4070 (ADA Lovelace) and that of the new RTX 5070 (Blackwell).
Borderlands 3 :
It’s off to the gaming part with Borderlands 3 to kick things off. This first game seems to confirm our feelings about this NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition, whose performance is equivalent to that of the RTX 4070 Ti. We told you about the potential for overclocking, so take a look at our overclocked NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition. That’s a gain of 17 FPS and a second place finish!
Cyberpunk 2077:
The same applies to Cyberpunk 2077, but with bigger differences. The RTX 5000s do really well with this game. Once again, note the gains made by overclocking.
COD Modern Warfare III:
We’re not really changing the shape of our graphics, but for the first time, our NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition lags a little behind the RTX 4070 Ti.
Forspoken:
Forspoken is a fairly demanding game and our NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition achieves an average of 74 FPS compared with 85 FPS when we overclock our sample.
Horizon Zeron Dawn Remastered:
One of the new games we’ve added to our comparison and where the differences are still contained between the RTX 4070 Ti and our NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition. Compared with the RTX 4070, we’re looking at a gain of 13.8%.
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider:
Shadow Of The Tomb Raider easily passes the 200 FPS mark with our NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition. If we clock our sample, second place is assured once again!
Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool :
This new game seems to be very greedy, and doesn’t do NVIDIA graphics cards any favours.
Far Cry 6:
Performance is different in Far Cry 6, where our NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition takes the lead over the RTX 4070 Ti.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage :
Here, it’s an average of 130 FPS for the RTX 5070 FE and RTX 4070 Ti.
Red Dead Redemption II:
Under Red Dead Redemption II, the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition lags a little further behind. For the first time, our overclocked sample has slipped to third place.
F1 2024 :
Our sample of the day struggles in F1 2024 against the RTX 4070 Ti, even though the performance gain over the previous generation is 16%.
Monster Hunter Wilds:
We’ve added a new benchmark for testing this NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition. This one is available free of charge on Steam. Here, our RTX 5070 FE is ahead of the RTX 4070 Ti
Alan Wake 2:
The final game, Alan Wake 2 won’t disrupt the order of our chart and represents the performance we should be getting in the average of our 13 games.
Average of the 13 games in 1440p rasterisation :
In the end, there weren’t too many surprises when it came to averaging the performance of this NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition. Compared with the previous generation, the RTX 4070, there’s a gain of 20.5%, which is still not negligible. This is more or less what we had between the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 4070 Ti.
But what’s important to note is the gain brought about by overclocking! That’s a 34.6% difference compared with the RTX 4070! Remember that our various tests show that overclocking is relatively stable, and we didn’t encounter any crashes during our tests. The difference in performance between the RTX 4070 and the RTX 4070 Super was 15%, which corresponds to the gain we obtained between the RTX 5070 and the overclocked RTX 5070, hence our interpretation that we were holding an RTX 5070 Super!
It’s also worth noting that, in certain games, given the number of FPS, the choice of 2160p definition would be entirely feasible. Let’s move on to the tests by activating upscaling and see how this NVIDIA RTX 5070 Founders Edition will benefit from DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation.
