To put it simply, Nova Lake is set to enter mass production later this year, or even in early 2027. However, on AliExpress at least, we’re already seeing LGA-1954 components for sale. On the platform, you can find the socket base itself—without the locking mechanism around it. This is a component designed to be soldered directly onto the motherboard.

A socket that costs $16.54!
To put it simply, the socket is the CPU’s “connector”—where the processor is installed—but it’s a component manufactured separately from the motherboard’s printed circuit board. On assembly lines, this component is soldered onto the PCB. It is this very component that is currently for sale on AliExpress at a listed price of $16.55, which is still quite affordable. In any case, the socket has pins on one side and small tin balls ready for soldering on the other.
Of course, this is just the “socket” itself; the locking mechanism is missing. In fact, the locking mechanism is often part of the rest of the socket since it’s screwed directly onto the motherboard. Furthermore, with Nova Lake, we can expect a system similar to the French-made LGA-2000, which used two locking levers, as can be seen briefly in this article.

With Nova Lake, Intel plans to release processors with a large number of cores—up to 52. The socket is evolving with the arrival of the famous LGA-1954, which features more pins. In fact, a longer lifespan is expected; at the very least, we should have a platform that lasts longer than the current LGA-1851, which was used for only one generation of processors.
