With the RTX 40 series having started its commercial life with RTX 4090 and soon RTX 4080 cards for PC, mobile versions are now being considered. Some leaks suggest that it might be difficult for Nvidia to maintain consistency between the desktop and mobile versions. The new mobile series would feature four different GPUs that would give life to five cards. However, the naming of the latter might not match with the desktop RTX series.

RTX 40 mobile If the leak detailed here is confirmed, NVIDIA would then launch a top of the range RTX 4090 mobile, but unlike the desktop part, it would be based on the AD103 GPU instead of the AD102. A situation that we have known in the past and which has the particularity to give the best part to marketing and to confuse the final customer. However, most of the elements concerning the NVIDIA RTX 40 Mobile series whose code name is “GN21” have already been leaked for several weeks. We also know that the maximum ranges of TGP (Total Graphics Power) for three of the models mentioned, allow us to anticipate that the mobile range will not exceed more than 175 Watts … Difficult under these conditions for a “real” RTX 4090.

For the moment, no date has been confirmed for the launch of the RTX 40 mobile range. In the same line as the other rumors, CES 2023 is now mentioned. A particularly early timing considering that so far only two cards are official for desktop PCs.
