Intel Arc Battlemage: leaked specs?

While some malicious tongues may scorn the Alchemist series of graphics cards launched by Les Bleus, we beg to differ. The positioning and performance of the ARC 750 and 770 make these cards judicious choices, despite their clearly unsuccessful launch. And Intel’s main rivals, Nvidia in particular, are well aware that the ambitions of the ARC GPU family should not be taken lightly. A refresh of the Alchemist range is scheduled for the latter part of this year, while Intel’s second-generation GPU, Battlemage, is due to arrive in the second half of 2024 . The latter’s specifications have been the subject of several leaks in recent days.

Intel Battlemage boards: launch in 2024

Let’s summarize the rumors. It seems that the Battlemage generation will use considerably larger cores, containing twice as many shaders (ALUs) as Alchemist. On the memory side, an L4 cache of up to 112 MB seems to be planned. According to MLID, it will be called Adamantine Cache. NVIDIA and AMD have already integrated large L4 caches in their latest GPUs.

Finally, Battlemage GPUs will use GDDR6X memory with chips clocked at 22 Gbps and more. Among the surprises, rumors insist that Battlemage will use a 256-bit bus. Until now, a 320-bit or 384-bit bus had been announced. But it seems that Intel has abandoned this plan in favor of a less expensive architecture. In concrete terms, this means that the standard for this generation will be 16 GB cards, with a possible 24 GB variant.
