Amazon launches its first cooler…a clone?

You may have noticed, but Amazon has its own products. It is usually found under the banner “Amazon Basics”, serious products, without frills or marketing and that rarely disappoint. So here the ecommerce giant comes to PC products with an Amazon Basics cpu cooler. Problem is, it looks very similar to a well known brand.

It reminds me vaguely of someone this Amazon fan unit

To really understand, you have to look at the (weak) details that Amazon gives about its product. It is a classic fan with a little touch of RGB. It has 4 direct contact copper heatpipes at the base of the heatsink and a fan that appears to be a 92mm. If we want to go further, we learn that it operates at a speed between 600 and 2000 RPM with a maximum of 34.1 CFM and all for a noise around 29.38 dBA. Finally, a strong point ensuring a wide compatibility, the total height of the heat sink is only 126mm.

A copy at the expense of Cooler Master? Not sure at all…

Those who have built PCs galore will quickly realize that this heat sink is reminiscent of a Cooler Master product: the Hyper H410R RGB… A product that can be found at barely higher prices on the internet, by the way.

So should we cry wolf right away? Not yet. Amazon does not manufacture anything by itself and often the “basic” products are a collaboration with a well known brand that wants to extend the life of an old reference for example. And for this, Cooler Master is a huge “maker” of products. To find a classic product, that the brand would have decided not to push anymore, with a new label, is therefore not extravagant. But we would like the price to be more aggressive than the original version. We will try to know more about it.
