Minisforum presents a new mini-computer equipped with a Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. In addition to the processor, which promises to be formidable, the machine also features an external GPU slot for mounting the graphics card. In short, it looks absolutely crazy!

A Ryzen 9 7945HX3D and an external GPU for the Minisforum mini-PC!

In fact, we’re talking about a big Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, the largest laptop processor currently available in the AMD range.

For the record, this CPU features a total of 16 Zen 4 cores and 32 threads. The chip operates at 2.3 GHz as standard, but can be boosted to 5.4 GHz with a configurable TDP between 55W and 75W. It also boasts 3D V-Cache memory, with the amount of L3 Cache increasing to 128 MB!

Intel-based configurations will also be offered, with machines equipped with a Core i9 13980HX. With a TDP of 55W, this model features 24 cores (8x P-Core and 16x E-Core), all running at a maximum of 5.6 GHz. As for cache, the L3 goes up to 36 MB, a far cry from the 128 MB of its rival AMD.

The whole package is built around an ITX motherboard with the processor soldered on… Yes, it’s a BGA CPU. Minisforum also mentions a CPU with a TDP of 100W, a model whose power consumption limit has been extended? Perhaps. In any case, it’s worth remembering that all this fits into a 6l case.

Otherwise, we can’t overlook the external interface for the graphics card. The latter appears to sit on top of the case, but is plugged into a PCIe slot. A metal bracket screwed to the chassis seems to hold it in place. It remains to be seen what we’ll be able to put on it, but it looks very interesting!

Now, we’re curious to see the price of such a solution, which doesn’t look cheap!
