The ASUS Dual RTX 4070 SUPER OC Edition:

Architecture:

As a reminder, the “Dual” series cards are what ASUS calls “entry-level” models, often available in both standard and OC versions. The difference in frequencies between the two models is quite small, so you can opt for the standard version, which will save you a few euros. The advantage of this series is that its price is often very close to the MSRP set by NVIDIA. It’s also a board with a compact footprint that will suit a wide range of configurations.

This RTX 4070 features 7168 CUDA cores, 20% more than the RTX 4070, and a TSMC 4nm manufacturing process with a TGP of 220 watts. In terms of memory, it features 12 GB of 192-bit GDDR6X memory, which translates into a bandwidth of 504 GB/s.

The Dual RTX 4070 SUPER bundle:

So what’s in the box? As you can see from the photos below, the box containing our copy of the ASUS Dual RTX 4070 SUPER follows the usual ASUS color code. The model number can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the box on a green background, as required by NVIDIA.

On the rear, ASUS highlights the PCB design, cooling system, fan design and GPU Tweak III overclocking software. The opening is on the side, where we find our graphics card perfectly protected by cardboard boxes and wrapped in transparent plastic. The bundle also includes a quick installation guide and a collector’s card for the model. This is a ” custom ” card, i.e. with a PCB and cooling system specific to NVIDIA’s partner brand, in this case ASUS.

The bundle includes a 16-pin (12 4) to two 8-pin 150 w adapters (300 w total). This adapter is necessary for those who don’t have a power supply with a 12VHPWR port or the adapter specific to their power supply. Please note that NVIDIA is the sole supplier of the adapter, and therefore provides it to its partners.

Cooling :

As the name suggests, the cooling system features two 100 mm Axial-tech fans. Axial fans feature a smaller hub, larger blades and a ring to improve downward air pressure.

The design of this Dual model is visually very pleasing, going straight to the essentials with a black and grey plastic fairing. But this model is quite sexy, with a transparent plastic top and the engraving of the word “Dual”. Frankly, it’s simple and effective, just the way we like it. It also features a backplate covering the rear of the PCB to stiffen it and provide a perfect finish.

These fans have 11 blades and are joined together at the tips. They remain at rest when the board is not in use, and vice versa. They become active again when the temperature requires it. As you can see, hot air escapes through the top edge of the board, through the bracket and through the back of the radiator, which is slightly longer than the PCG. The board measures 267 x 134 x 51 mm and will occupy 2.5 slots . The black plastic casing encloses the PCB, and this model also features a dual BIOS: Pmode (performance) and Qmode (quiet).

Connectors:

To power the board, we use the 16-pin mini-connector (12 4). As mentioned above, NVIDIA’s bundle includes an adapter to connect two 8-pin connectors for those who don’t have a compatible power supply.

Finally, the card’s video outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1 port. Pricing: 689 euros from Alternate.
