Asus and Asrock are already working on bios for 14th generation Intel

Motherboard manufacturers are all hard at work preparing updates to their bios to support 14th generation Core processors ahead of the imminent autumn release. ASUS and ASRock are the latest to join the proceedings, rolling out support for next-generation processors alongside additional chipset and I/O features. The Raptor Lake-S Refresh is due to land in October. The high-end K-series chips will be launched first, as with the 13 generation. If you missed an episode, be warned that “reading” this 14th generation is going to prove epic…

Asrock and Asus ok on the 14th generation

ASRock has released its bios to ensure 14th generation compatibility for its b760M PG Sonic WiFi motherboard. This is currently the only ASRock board to officially support the Raptor Lake-S Refresh. In addition to supporting new-generation processors, this update improves memory compatibility, adding support for 24GB/48GB high-density DDR5 memory modules and optimizing processor settings.

At Asus, it’s the ROG Maximus Z790 APEX which has obtained support for the 14th generation. The package also includes various patches to improve system stability and compatibility. For those who haven’t followed the explanations of the differences between the 13th and 14th generations, the real difference lies in the higher boost clocks ( + 100 MHz to + 300 MHz ). We’ll also benefit from support for higher memory speeds and an improved power supply (motherboard). The other change also concerns power management, since these “new” processors will feature a digital linear voltage regulator ( DLVR ), improving processor efficiency by up to 25% and increasing overclocking margin. The expected gain from this system would be, for example, to enable a 253 W CPU like the Core i9-13900K to operate at 189 W without sacrificing performance…Wait and See.
