Indispensable: the first PC coffee maker (and toaster)

Modding is always a passion for us at overclocking.com. It’s an art that requires qualities most of us don’t have, and that’s what attracts us. But some people have more than just artistic qualities, they also have a sense of practicality. And let’s be objective: for a large part of our community, the hardware we handle the most after our PC is without doubt our coffee maker. Personally, it’s become a considerable investment item for me, and I’ve come to study the ceramic grinders on certain appliances with almost as much attention as the VRMs on a motherboard 🙂 . So when this morning I heard about a modern PC, capable of grinding grain and producing triple ristrettos… My interest in the early hours of the day was immediately focused on this technological marvel.

The ultimate productivity tool

Those who follow Martina and Hansi, the crazy Norwegians from Nerforge, won’t be truly surprised to discover this incredible modd once again. For these two, this project was a “major” element of their start to 2024.

The PC Cafetière: this is a Revolution

The base used is a Corsair 1000D, to ensure sufficient space. Rather than trying to integrate a simple pod machine, they have stripped away the key elements of a coffee maker and grinder, synchronizing the entire process with an Arduino. Several sensors ensure safe operation, for example to check that a cup is correctly positioned under the dispensing spout. The delirium even goes as far as scheduling coffee production.

As for the computer, you’d think it was a secondary objective… But not at all. What we have here is a modern PC with an RTX 4070Ti and a 14700K. So, of course, in the comments to this video, you’ll find some of the usual sweaty souls who criticize the job when it’s time to change a ram strip. The temperature of the unit in operation, the combination of food and tech products, but also the dust, are all arguments put forward by these great souls. But Martina decided to use this PC on a daily basis for a few months and give her feedback. Beyond the fun of it, this is a fine piece of work and a fine bit of delirium that, in my opinion, should be saluted.
