With the new consoles, we are facing a democratization of the SSD. In the case of the PS5, we can even upgrade the capacity of the console with another SSD. However, it will have to be cooled and for that, we can count on third-party players to provide cooling solutions. This is notably the case with Silverstone which offers us its TP05!
TP05: Silverstone cooling for SSD for the PS5!
With its heatsink, the brand offers us a solution for SSDs in M.2280 format. The more compact standards like M.2 2260 for example are not compatible.
In terms of dimensions, we have something compact with only 5.6 mm in height. Remember that the goal is to fit in the PS5 storage expansion bay. Next to that, we have a heatsink made of aluminum in which thick fins are machined.
Finally, Silverstone provides thermal pads to help with cooling. Two sizes are offered: 0.5 mm thick (1.8 W/m.k) and 1.75 mm (1.5 W/m.k). Of course, this TP05 is able to cool both sides of the SSD, ideal when memory chips are present on both sides of the PCB.
For the moment, the price is not yet known, however, even if it is a cooling for the PS5, it is perfectly usable on a motherboard.
