Pricing?
Let’s get straight to the pricing. Here, as a reminder, the Founders Edition has an NVIDIA-defined MSRP of 1,109 euros ($999). This is excellent news, since it offers a performance boost at a price lower than that of the RTX 4080 at the time of its launch, i.e. 1,469 euros! Since the RTX 4080 was not as successful as NVIDIA had hoped, this SUPER model benefits from a much lower price, which should make it easier to sell. On the NVIDIA side, there’s always the UFO, the RTX 4090, but at present, it’s usually priced at around 2,000 euros.
AMD seems to have begun lowering the prices of its high-end cards, the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX, but it remains to be seen whether stores will follow suit..
Performance?
As you’ll have noticed from our various tests, our NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER Founders Edition performs rather well, but doesn’t show a big difference from the RTX 4080. This is the model that comes closest to the performance of the RTX 4080, with a gain of 6%. As we said above, the lower price means a much more attractive price/performance ratio on this model, provided the stores go in the same direction.
The card?
It’s hard to hide it, but we’ve always had a soft spot for Founders Edition models. This new black RTX 4080 SUPER is simply superb. The cooling system implemented by NVIDIA works perfectly and will prove even more effective in a case. The overclocking potential, although limited by NVIDIA, will still allow you to get some FPS.
NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER Founders Edition
The latest card launched by NVIDIA for the “SUPER” series, this RTX 4080 SUPER not only boosts performance, but also offers future buyers a much more attractive MSRP. Admittedly, 1,109 euros isn’t an affordable price, but it’s the one that will allow you to take full advantage of uncompromising UHD definition and NVIDIA technologies. We hesitated for the award, but currently, having found no real offer of the RX 7900 XTX under 1,000 euros, this Founders Edition model remains more interesting.
