Ryzen 7 7800X3D: the next CS2 competition will be powered by AMD

AMD hasn’t always been in top form, far from it. Before offering its Ryzen processors, the company had FX processors in its catalog… Well, they worked (quickly), but yoau couldn’t expect the same performance as an Intel CPU of the time. Then Ryzen came along, and completely reshuffled the deck in the processor sector. So much so that the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (tested here) is still the best gaming processor on the market, even after the launch of Intel’s 14900KS.

Clearly, this argument is paying off, since even e-sport competitions feature AMD-based machines. This is particularly true of the PGL Major Copenhagen, a major Counter Strike 2 competition!

PGL Major Copenhagen: machines based on Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 4080!

The organizers of this tournament, which runs from March 17 to 31, have unveiled the machines on which players will compete. Clearly, we’re dealing with good PCs as we like them. They’ve opted for 7800X3D and RTX 4080. A top-of-the-range configuration for a game that ultimately requires very few resources.

However, despite the basic graphics, the machines are still powerful enough to display as many frames/s as possible. In fact, on the display side, we find Zowie XL2566K screens displaying 1080p resolution, all at 360 Hz, for maximum fluidity.

Nevertheless, this isn’t the first time AMD processors have been used in this competition. Indeed, before the 7800X3D, there was the 5800X3D, and before that a Ryzen 9 5950X.

In short, seeing AMD hardware running in machines designed for e-sports must represent a major PR coup for AMD.
