RTX 4060 Ti 16GB launched to complete indifference!

Yesterday was July 18 (that’s the spirit of deduction), but above all it was the launch of the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB… And the launch was met with total indifference. Usually, when AMD or NVIDIA launch a card, it’s at least a small event in itself. The card is accompanied by independent tests, etc., but not this time.

RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, clearly not the most popular card of the moment…

To put it crudely, this model is just a VRAM-doped version. It offers nothing more than double the memory of its 8GB counterpart. In and of itself, there are no performance gains to be grasped, no real differences in power consumption or heating. This doubling of memory capacity will simply give a little boost in certain scenarios, helping to reduce stuttering for example.

In short, what’s strange about this model is the attention it has received from NVIDIA and the media. TechpowerUp claims to have prepared for the launch of the card, freeing up time on their schedule, as they did for the 4060/Ti… But nothing. After several contacts with their partners, no one has provided them with a sample… The same is true of alternative channels, such as resellers.

Worse still, NVIDIA made sure not to supply any drivers in advance, as is usually the case. In these conditions, without copies and without drivers, there can be no testing. Even foreign resellers say they have no stock, and when asked about availability, the answer is “we don’t know”.

On the green side, communication isn’t much better, with NVIDIA sharing a simple graphic with results on two games…

In short, tests will come sooner or later, but they will be initiated by the media themselves. Expect them to arrive as and when stocks become available in stores, as you’ll have to put your money where your mouth is to test the card.
