Intel would have secured 4 nm and 3 nm for its next GPUs

Intel is already planning the arrival of its next generations of Battlemage and Celestial GPUs. With this in mind, the blues have secured a supply of 4nm and 3nm chips from TSMC. Given the way the Taiwanese manufacturer operates, it is clear that Intel has put money on the table to secure a place on the production line. This is at least what the Taiwanese economic press says. The latter indicates that this commitment will be mainly for the Intel Xe2 (or “Battlemage”) and Xe3 (or “Celestial”) GPUs. But this information leaves us perplexed…

Intel GPU Celestial Battlemage

If we take at face value the data disclosed by this business newspaper, we are forced to take a different look at several subjects. First of all, the relationship with TSMC. While Intel is ramping up its 20A and 18A processes, it seems that Intel’s GPU business will stay with TSMC for a while. The other piece of information is the timing of Intel’s new generation GPUs. Again, if we follow the information coming from Taiwan, the Battlemage GPUs should arrive on the market only in the second half of next year. A surprising information while until then the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 are regularly evoked. As for Celestial, the second half of 2026 is announced… These dates seem inconsistent because they would imply that the current Arc generation lasts another 18 months while leaks have suggested the existence of a refresh of Alchemist in the second half of this year.
