The arrival of the i9-13900KS is getting closer and closer. Some think that it will be officially launched at the beginning of the year but our sources confirm that the big i9, like the non-K versions of Raptor Lake, are already being delivered to distributors and wholesalers. For the record, the i9-13900KS will actually be a “sorted” version of the 13900K allowing to hold 6Ghz out of the box and without tinkering.

i9-13900KS: effective gains but at what price?

In detail, the 13900KS has a “Thermal Velocity Boost” frequency of up to 6 GHz, a figure that will therefore be highly dependent on your cooling system. The processor features a “Turbo Boost Max” frequency of up to 5.8 GHz while the P-Cores run at a standard turbo frequency of up to 5.4 GHz while the E-Cores run at up to 4.3 GHz. All this translates into a TDP that increases to 150W, 25W more than the “classic” i9-13900K, while the maximum power consumption will be the same: 253W .

An i9-13900KS would also have been run under GeekBench 5, allowing to see what the 6Ghz frequency brings to this processor compared to the rest of the CPU offer on the market.
