Despite the price cuts the Ryzen 7000 is a failure

For the moment, the sales of Zen 4 processors are not at all at the level expected by AMD. Some people are even talking about a failure for the Ryzen 7000. During the last few months of the year, promotions have followed one another, but nothing seems to change a basic trend for AMD: the “old” Ryzen 5000 range continues to sell better than the new Zen 4. In the next few hours, during CES, AMD and Intel will unveil new references for their range. The 65W variants of the non-X Ryzen 7000 series and the 65W 13th Gen non-K series will soon be on the market. Will these new, cheaper versions change the game? Nothing is less certain and at the same time, AMD has realized that the total cost of the platform to switch to Zen 4 was also a major brake. That’s why the Reds are also trying to act on motherboard prices.

The end of the year did not change anything for the Ryzen 7000

To get an idea, the best solution is to “compile” the data on the number of processors sold each day that the German Mindfactory makes available to the public. If the market share in December is still dominated by AMD, it is the Ryzen 5000 that allows this result.

We have mentioned it several times, it is the 5800X3D that carries AMD’s sales in December, a curiosity that must cause some worries to the heads of AMD. On the high end, Intel is in a strong position. We can understand the balancing act of AMD people who seem to be condemned to keep the Ryzen 5000 alive to maintain their domination in terms of market share. A situation that can’t last forever… Either the market will switch itself, or it will be helped with a massive price drop. The next announcements will be watched with interest.
