CS2: don’t activate AMD’s Anti-Lag, risk of ban!

We only recently discovered that AMD had added Anti-Lag support for CS 2 to its 23.10.1 driver release. The aim of this feature is to reduce display latency. However, if you use it, you risk a VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) Ban from Steam!

Anti-Lag and CS 2: risk of a Steam ban!

Counter Strike 2 - CS2

In concrete terms, what happens if you use this technology to get banned? Well, Anti-Lag will simply cause some problems with the game’s DLLs, which Valve’s anti-cheating software considers… Cheating. The result is a ban from the platform.

Clearly, the problem is only present in the Steam game, and the publisher is aware of it. The company will proceed with the debanning of banned accounts following the next red update.

As for AMD, the brand reacted quickly and removed the driver in question from its site. The changelog is still accessible, but the download link has disappeared. What’s more, the download center now only displays version 23.9.3; version 32.10.1 is no longer accessible. For the time being, no new versions have been released, but in view of the problem, this should not be long in coming. Of course, we’ll be on the lookout for any changes!
