AMD’s financial results for Q2 2023 are mixed

As we recently reported, AMD recently published its financial results. These are for the second quarter of 2023, and they are mixed. Overall, year-on-year figures are down, but up on the previous quarter.

Compared with the previous year, the section recorded a slight decline of 4%, while it reached 10% compared with Q1 2023.

This is followed by the pro sector, with data centers recording a small quarter-on-quarter increase. Nevertheless, compared with Q2 2022, the decline is 11%.

Now, the sector losing the most money year-on-year is the Customer section, with revenues down 54% and operating income down 110%. On the other hand, it is also the sector that is making the most progress compared with the first quarter of the year, with 35n revenues and 60n operating results.

Finally, the embedded systems sector suffers the least from one year to the next; on the contrary, it can be said to be doing well. As we can see, compared with Q2 2022, this is the branch that recorded the biggest increase in 16 th revenues. On the other hand, compared with Q1 2023, we have a small decline of 7%.

All these factors contribute to the lower overall results. Against Q2 2022, the company sees its sales fall from $6.550 billion to $5.359 billion this year (-18%), while they are stable against Q1 2023.

The publication of these results was an opportunity for AMD to indicate that new RADEON products are on the way. Lisa Su’s announcement that ” enthusiast” RX 7000s would be launched in the third quarter comes to mind.
