The wait for new AMD graphics cards could soon be shortened. Indeed, when announcing the company’s financial results, Lisa Su indicated that the planets were aligning for the launch of new graphics cards this quarter. This concerns the ” Enthusiast ” segment.

New Enthusiast graphics cards from AMD this quarter!

AMD

” We are on track to further expand our RDNA 3 GPU offerings with the launch of new, enthusiast-class Radeon 7000 series cards in the third quarter

So it’s confirmed: the company will indeed be launching new graphics cards this quarter. As for the targeted range, it’s hard to say what we’ll be dealing with, but it’s highly likely to be the high-end mid-range cards missing from the Radeon line-up. So far, we’ve had to make do with a small RX 7600 and the big RX 7900s, with nothing in between.

Logically, then, we can expect the arrival of the RX 7800/7700, at last. For while these cards are positioned in the ” Enthusiast ” segment, the RX 7900s are marketed as ” ultra-Enthusiast “.

Now, it’s difficult to predict the future, and it’s hard to say what the cards’ features will be. On the other hand, we suspect that these will be Navi 32 GPU-based models, the only untapped chip in the manufacturer’s range. As for performance, we can expect something similar to the RX 7900 GRE. As a reminder, this model runs on a Navi 31 XL GPU. This is a highly neutered Navi 31 with a small package and a reduced memory bus.

Ideally, AMD’s aim would be to have an offering to rival the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4070/Ti. For the time being, these cards are rivalled only by older-generation RX 6000s, which were still in large supply.

For the time being, rumors that AMD would present its new cards during GamesCom seem to be holding true.
