Towards a new socket AM4 Ryzen?

It’s a rumor that doesn’t come out of nowhere. Some time ago, AMD, faced with the “resistance” of its Ryzen 5000 range, had already asked itself the question. In the last few hours, a new leak has rekindled the idea that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D could soon have a little brother. This assertion is based on the product code disclosure (100-00001176) , the frame of which indicates that it could belong to a Ryzen processor on socket AM4 with 6 cores. If this is indeed the case, it would simply mean that AMD wishes to extend the life of its Ryzen 5000 range, in order to continue to exist in a range with contained prices.

Towards a final round for AMD in AM4?

Will AMD offer the AM4 socket one last round in 2023?

To go into a little more detail, behind this processor would be a Ryzen 5 5600X3D with a 6-core / 12-thread configuration and an L2 cache 1 MB smaller than that of the 5800X3D (3 MB). As for the L3 cache, which includes the 3D V-Cache, this would be equipped with 96 MB, the same configuration as the 5800X3D…

CPU clocks are said to be slightly lower than those of the 5800X3D, with a base clock of 3.3 GHz and rising to 4.4 GHz. This would mean frequencies only 100 MHz lower than 5800X3D. None of our sources has yet been able to confirm this leak. We’ll be sure to keep you posted over the coming hours.

For the time being, the price of the 5800X3D still makes it a relevant choice for those wishing to upgrade a gaming configuration, whereas its replacement only accepts DDR5 and a new socket.
