The launch of AMD’s RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT has given NVIDIA a bit of a shake-up. Indeed, at the time of their launch, the RTX 4070, RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 were priced at a premium. However, competition from AMD forced the chameleon to review its pricing. As a result, mid-range RTX 40s are now down in price, in some cases by as much as -10%!

When you have a monopoly in a sector, you can afford to charge whatever you like. That’s what NVIDIA could afford to do before AMD launched its RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. Without these cards, AMD could only compete with its older-generation RX 6000 cards.

However, the launch of these new models forced NVIDIA to react. The greens have therefore readjusted the prices of a number of card series. Via Techspot, we’ve learned that some cards have seen price cuts of up to -10%.

NVIDIA RTX 4070 - RTX 4060 Ti - RTX 4060 variation de prix

In detail, from September to August, prices for the RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti remained unchanged. They have therefore remained stable, as there has been no movement from the competition in these sectors… This is not the case in the mid-range, where we can observe quite significant variations. The non-Ti 4070, for example, has seen its price drop by 10% to $550, as we observed in mid-September.

As for the smaller cards, such as the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and 8GB and the 4060 non-Ti, here too there are movements. The 4060 Ti 16GB drops by 10% to $450, against $380 for the 8GB version (-3%). Finally, the non-Ti 4060 also loses 3% to settle below $300.

In short, it has to be said that the competition imposed by AMD has not only hurt the 4070, since the 4060 Ti is also dropping. In fact, this is the biggest devaluation on NVIDIA’s side… It’s all the more amusing given that NVIDIA indicated that adding 8 GB to the 4060 Ti was a costly operation (according to our colleagues).

AMD’s prices also changed rapidly, with :

  • RX 7900 XTX: -2% ($940)
  • RX 7900 XT: 5% ($790)
  • RX 7600 : -2% ($260)
