RTX 3050 6 Go, uncertainties about its configuration!

The RTX 3050 6GB will be making its debut shortly. This new card, aimed at NVIDIA’s entry-level segment, offers a limited amount of memory and a limited GPU. The aim is to reduce costs and power consumption, making this an economical card. However, there is still some uncertainty as to the configuration of the GPU.

RTX 3050 6 Go: towards a GPU equipped with 2304 cuda core?

Nvidia RTX 3050Clearly, the GPU configuration of this card is still a matter of debate. Previously, we saw that the card was equipped with a castrated GA107. The latter should feature 2048 cuda cores and 6 GB of 96-bit VRAM. Obviously, this represents a serious drop in the card’s characteristics, especially when compared with the original 8GB version. As a reminder, that model boasted 8 GB of memory on a 128-bit bus and 2560 cuda cores on a GA106.

VideoCardz has published a new possible configuration of the card, which will feature 2304 cuda cores. However, the VRAM and memory bus remain unchanged. The result? 6 GB of memory offering a bandwidth of 168 GB/s.

Finally, frequencies will be lowered, with a boost from 1777 MHz to 1470 MHz. All this will help lower the TDP to 70W, low enough to dispense with a PCIe auxiliary power supply. What’s more, this will enable the adoption of passive cooling systems, as we mentioned here.

As for price, NVIDIA is aiming for a sub-$200 price tag, with availability scheduled for February.
