CableMod recalls its rigid adapters for safety reasons!

Adaptateur 12VHPWR cablemod

The brand’s bent 12VHPWR adapters have definitely caused a lot of problems. The first models, although practical, still managed to burn/melt/damage users’ graphics cards. However, the company is serious and offers impeccable customer service, refunding damaged cards!

Subsequently, a version 1.1 was released, designed to eliminate the lateral play of the male connector, while offering a more pronounced joint with the female CG connector.

However, while we haven’t received any feedback that version 1.1 has been implicated in cases of burnt cards, CableMod is recalling it. In fact, v1 and v1.1 90° and 180° adapters are being recalled. The brand cites safety reasons for the fact that these adapters take up play over time!

Of course, in its press release, the brand stipulates that the adapter should not be handled when the machine is switched on. Once switched off, the company also advises to let it cool down for a while before removing it.

Clearly, the brand has realized that there’s a major problem, and advises to stop using them IMMEDIATELY! At the same time, we have learned that sales of these products have been discontinued.

If you are the unfortunate owner of one of these adapters, you should be receiving instructions from the brand shortly. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to contact the company’s customer service department.

Please note that this recall concerns rigid adapters, not angled cables. Here is the list of products concerned:

  • 12VHPWR 180-degree adapter Version 1.0
