Logitech partners with iFixit

It’s an interesting move made by Logitech. By partnering with iFixit, the brand is indicating that it intends to amplify its efforts to make it easier to repair its devices. IFixit’s position is more technical and commercial in this story. We often see iFixit as the benchmark of repairability, but it’s primarily a seller of tools and parts. Thus, this association with Logitech will allow iFixit to provide both tutorials but also spare parts and tool kits so that the end customer can repair his Logitech mouse, keyboard or headset… Smart.

iFixit seems to want to expand its business by taking advantage of the aura of its “brand”. Recently, a similar collaboration was launched with Valve on the Steam Deck console. The collaboration with the Swiss brand will expand this summer as iFixit’s Repair Hub will allow users to obtain the necessary parts to repair a device and follow tutorials to do it properly.

The official statement on the Logitech / iFixit collaboration:

Consumers often struggle to find ways to repair and extend the life of their product. There is more that manufacturers who want to play an active role in the transition to a more circular economy can do. I’m thrilled that we are able to collaborate with iFixit to develop better designs and make it easier for consumers to have a self-repair option to extend the life of our products.

Making replacement parts available and designing devices that are more repairable are the best things manufacturers can do to make their products sustainable. We’ve worked with Logitech to make it easier for users to repair their products. And now, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to help provide Logitech replacement parts to people around the world. To leave a healthy planet for the next generation, we need to keep our devices working as long as possible, reduce our demand for raw materials, and reduce the amount of electronic waste we produce. It’s great to see Logitech working toward these goals, and we’re more than happy to do our best to help.
