Several rumors have been circulating for a while about the association between Logitech G and the Chinese gaming giant Tencent Games for the launch of a portable console specifically dedicated to cloud gaming. This one is now a reality since images but also technical data have been revealed. If many people have placed this console as a competitor to Valve’s Steamdeck or the Nintendo Switch, it should be understood that only their format brings them closer. The Logitech console is based on the Android operating system and will use an ARM mobile SoC. The Logitech product will therefore require a permanent connection as well as access (subscription in most cases) to dedicated streaming services.
Difficult in these conditions to predict the future of this product that has difficulty to detach itself from a large smartphone with integrated controllers.
It will be necessary to monitor the characteristics of the panel but also the specific hardware used for connectivity. We could imagine that the association between Logitech and Tencent aims to offer a service combining a hardware (the console) and access to services (5G and gaming offer). Under these conditions, it is not totally certain that this product will be distributed throughout the world. Finally, the price positioning will remain the judge of peace … Above 299 € the game seems complicated.
