As for Gigabyte, we’ve learned of the launch of several motherboards, including the X870 Aorus Infinity, which was teased ahead of this year’s Computex. This model is clearly geared toward memory performance, featuring a -90°-angled socket and two DDR5 RAM slots. Based on that, you could say it’s a Tachyon, but in black. In any case, it’s a special-edition motherboard commemorating Gigabyte’s 40th anniversary!

Gigabyte announces its X870 Aorus Infinity!

A motherboard designed for memory performance?

Gigabyte X870 Aorus InfinityWith this model, we have a motherboard in the E-ATX form factor. As you can see, it’s slightly wider than a standard ATX motherboard. This also allows Gigabyte to reposition the socket and the two DDR5 memory slots. These slots should enable strong overclocking capabilities; the brand has announced support for modules running at 11,400 MT/s, and, according to the latest reports, support for CL24 timings! On the CPU side, we find an 18+2+2-phase power delivery system rated at 110A.

Connectivity is limited to two PCIe x16 slots compliant with the 5.0 standard. With the right CPU, the first connector will operate at x16 and the second at x8. As you can see, they’re reinforced and will easily support even particularly heavy graphics cards… Especially since a simplified removal system is included.

For storage, we get a trio of M.2 slots, two of which are compatible with the PCIe 5.0 x4 standard and the third with PCIe 4.0 x4. The board also features four SATA III 6 Gb/s ports.

Finally, on the back, we find a particularly well-equipped I/O shield with seven USB-A ports and one USB-C port, all supporting various standards. PS/2 connectors for keyboard and mouse are also present, along with OC Ignition and Flashback buttons. The networking is powered by a Qualcomm QCNCM865 chip for Wi-Fi and a Realtek chip for 5 GbE Ethernet. As for audio, it uses a Realtek ALC1220 chip.

Price still unknown:

The retail price is still unknown, but we’re curious to see how it compares to the Aorus Tachyon, which currently remains Gigabyte’s flagship XOC motherboard. As a reminder, this model retails for under €500, so it’s a great deal if you want to hone your overclocking skills with hardware that offers solid overclocking capabilities!
