While the PC market is under pressure due to soaring prices for certain components such as memory and storage, ASUS is taking a stance that contrasts with the usual narrative. According to the manufacturer, the price surge is over, although some adjustments may still occur (less than 10%). However, this announcement runs counter to market signals and, in particular , recent analyses.

According to ASUS, the upward spiral of PC prices is about to end!

Minor adjustments of less than 10%!

According to ASUS,PC price increases are about to stabilize, although minor adjustments may occur here and there. By “minor adjustments,” they mean occasional increases of less than 10%. The company bases this assessment on recent price trends for components such as memory and storage, which indicate price stabilization or even a decline in some cases. The company goes on to note that the market is approaching consumers’ tolerance threshold. In other words, to prevent sales from collapsing entirely, it’s best to limit price increases.

Is this tone too optimistic?

Furthermore, given the current context, ASUS may seem presumptuous in announcing that prices have stabilized. As we saw yesterday, financial analysts were forecasting continued increases in memory prices through 2027. Furthermore, the decline in certain memory and storage prices may also be only temporary and could start rising again. In any case, the PC market remains under pressure, and as we’ve seen, sales volumes are trending downward for both CPUs and motherboards.

However, the increase in DDR5 production by SK Hynix could play a role in slowing the pace of retail price increases. Stay tuned.
