At the end of October, ASRock unveiled its TRX50 WS board. It was shown shortly after the announcement of the Threadripper 7000 processors. This time, we have more information about it, including its launch date. As for the price, we’ll have to wait and see!
TRX50 WS: the motherboard with four fans!
This board is equipped with an sTR5 socket and a TRX50 chipset. This reference also adopts an E-ATX format.
On the memory side, as you can see, the card features four DDR5 memory slots. These can accommodate up to 1 TB of DDR5 running at 7600 MT/s. In fact, we’re thinking that the new 128 GB modules from micron would be just the thing!
The rest of the connectivity features three PCIe 5.0 x16 (x16/x16/x8), two PCIe 4.0 x16 operating in x4 and x8. The storage section offers four SATA IIIs coupled with two M.2s, one in PCIe 5.0 x4 and the other in PCIe 4.0 x4. There’s also an MCIO interfaced to PCIe 5.0 x4 and two SlimSAS providing four PCIe 4.0 x4 or four SATA III.
The rear features a 10 GbE Ethernet connector managed by a Marvell AQC113 chip. WiFi is also present, with a Wi-Fi 6E module, and a second Ethernet interface (Dragon RTL8125BG). Audio is handled by an ALC1220 chip.
To power the Threadripper Pro 7995WX’s 96 cores, the board is equipped with 18 3 3-phase power supplies. These VRMs are cooled by heatsinks topped by four fans. Tests will tell whether they are noisy or not.
As for availability, we’ll have to wait until mid-December, while the price is still unknown.
