Serious news from Micron in the server RAM field, as the company announces 128 GB modules. While such a capacity is already well known in the industry, the frequency reached is less so.
Micron announces 128 GB RAM modules clocked at 8000 MT/s!
Broadly speaking, the American company Micron is offering memory modules with very high capacities. Each module offers up to 128 GB. Clearly, the target sector is servers and data centers. In terms of applications, the brand mentions artificial intelligence, in-memory databases and general workloads.
As we said earlier, 128 GB memory modules have already been seen in this sector, but the frequencies announced by the company are a little less so. The company is talking about frequencies of 4800 MT/s and 5600 MT/s initially. Later, in 2024, we should see modules operating at 8000 MT/s.
Finally, this density was achieved by using memory chips with a density of 32 Gb. Unfortunately, we don’t have all the specifications under our belts, but the brand does put forward a few figures in its press release:
