An Epyc 9684X Genoa-X CPU spotted on Goofish !

Hop, direction China, but especially the Goofish site where we can lay our eyes on an AMD Epyc CPU with SP5 socket. But it’s not just any CPU since we’re looking at a Genoa-X, a server CPU optimized for applications that take advantage of cache memory. At the same time, with more than 1GB of L3 cache, it makes sense!

A picture of a Genoa-X CPU?

AMD Epyc 9684X Genoa-XObviously, we would be dealing with an Epyc 9684X, a processor not yet launched by AMD. However, it is a model with a more than muscular configuration. Indeed, it would have a total of 96 cores, 192 threads, but also a colossal L3 cache. The latter will reach 1152 MB: 384 MB in total via the CCDs and 768 MB of 3D V-Cache. In addition, there is a total of 96 MB of L2 and 3 MB of L1, which pushes the total cache memory to more than 1.2 GB!

Clearly, this series is intended for professional uses that take advantage of cache memory. Among them, we can mention everything related to databases for example. Anyway, this series follows the Milan-X in Zen3. For the moment, we can only guess at the frequencies, which should be around 3.7 GHz at the most. As for the TDP, it should be 400W with maximum supported temperatures of 100°C.

In short, a matter to follow, but the processor seems to be listed for 9000 yuan (~$1300). Only one model is in stock and, of course, it is an ES (Engineering Sample).
