Decidedly, this 12VHPWR connector is truly indomitable. In addition to burning out with default adapters, serious companies like cablemod are being forced to carry out massive product recalls. After a recall initiated by the brand, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Comission gets involved and gives the figures!

12VHPWR adapter by cablemod, some figures :

Adaptateur 12VHPWR cablemodAs you know, for safety reasons, the cablemod brand has initiated a massive recall of its adapters. This concerns versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the product in question… And this applies to both A and B versions, from 90° to 180°.

However, in the wake of this recall, the Consumer Product Safety Comission in the USA has stepped in. The latter has also ordered a recall of these adapters. The danger is that the male connector becomes loose. Over time, a gap is created, the adapter overheats and melts into the female connector of the graphics card. This can lead to a fire.

What we didn’t know was that 25,300 of these adapters were sold. Since this is an American commission, we assume that these are US sales. As for the damage to the cards, this amounts to $74,500, while 272 incident reports have been filed by the brand. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

As we said, in the event of damage, the brand undertakes to replace your equipment… Adapter AND graphics card… Fortunately, GPU brands refuse to provide after-sales service in the event of damage.

Of course, we strongly advise you to return the adapter in question. The brand will reimburse you for the adapter and shipping costs… Or credit you with a $60 voucher from their store, including standard shipping costs.
