Towards a fourth RTX 3060 in GA104 and GDDR6X?

The RTX 3060 desktop already comes in three different versions, the original model, its LHR variant and an ” Eco+ ” model with 8GB of GDDR6. However, there are rumors of a fourth version. The latter could well have a larger GPU and faster memory!

RTX 3060: towards a GDDR6X model with a GA104 GPU?

NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition

Clearly, behind this, there is nothing official since these are only rumors. Nevertheless, it would not be impossible to have a fourth desktop version of the card. This new version would come with a bigger GPU, the GA104. As a reminder, this is the chip that officiates in the Ti versions as well as in the RTX 3070.

However, this does not mean that this 3060 will have a bigger configuration… No, it doesn’t. Despite the use of a bigger chip, it will still contain the 3584 cuda core, 112 TMU and 48 ROP of the original model. However, it is not impossible that this will lead to a slight drop in temperature due to a larger die … And a better distributed heat.

On the memory side, rumor has it that the card may well take advantage of GDDR6X memory. This addition will benefit the memory bandwidth thanks to the higher frequency of VRAM type. As an example, the latter allowed an increase in memory bandwidth of 36% on the Ti version of the card.

Of course, these are just rumors, to be taken with caution. Especially since one wonders about the target market for this type of solution. Very often, these cards are found on the Chinese market.
