MSI announces a new series of SSDs. The brand unveils Spatium M580 Frozr, a range equipped with a PCIe 5.0 interface and a massive heatsink.

With its new SSDs, the brand offers a series of three capacities: 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. Internally, these models benefit from a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface, as well as a Phison E26 memory controller. What’s more, the type of memory is not specified, but we do know that it benefits from 232 layers. Will it be TLC or QLC? A mystery.
In terms of performance, the brand mentions high transfer rates, with sequential speeds of up to 14.6 GB/s read and 12.7 GB/s write. These are supported by a DRAM and SLC cache. Of course, random performance is not specified, nor is endurance, although the brand does indicate “a high TBW value”.
Otherwise, an imposing heatsink comes as standard. This comprises a large number of aluminum fins coupled with three copper heat pipes. The brand mentions a temperature reduction of 20°C to maintain maximum flow rates.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to make do with this information. The company does not mention price or launch date. What we do know is that it comes with a 5-year warranty.
