Ryzen 9 7945HX, the CPU soldered onto a MinisForum ITX motherboard

In the IT world, mobile processors can be found in desktop versions. The advantage lies mainly in the low power consumption and low noise levels generated by this type of solution. Bear in mind that these CPUs are primarily intended for portable PCs. However, to get them in desktop format, things are rather complex and you often have to buy a CPU/motherboard combo, as the processor is usually soldered. That’s what MinisForum offers us with a Ryzen 9 7945HX, one of AMD’s best mobile CPUs.

Ryzen 9 7945HX: the CPU soldered to an ITX motherboard at MinisForum!

As a reminder, this processor offers a rather muscular configuration, with a total of 16 cores and 32 threads. As for frequencies, it spins at 5.4 GHz and boasts a total of 1 MB of L2/core cache and 64 MB of shared L3 cache. Apart from the frequencies and configurable TDP of just 55-75W, it shares a similar configuration to the Ryzen 9 7950X!

You can therefore offer this model soldered onto a mini-ITX motherboard. The board in question features two DDR5 SO-DIMM memory slots. The data sheet gives a maximum capacity of 64 GB at a maximum frequency of 5200 MT/s.

For storage, we find a total of two M.2 in 2280 taking advantage of a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface. On the graphics side, we have a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot.

Unfortunately, processor cooling is already fitted as standard, so all that’s left to do is choose the fan that goes with it (in 120 mm). Connection is via a standard four-pin PWM socket. Finally, there are ATX 24-pin and EPS12V CPU power sockets!

As for price, this solution is currently listed at $519 on the brand’s website.

PS: an equivalent Core i9 13900HX-based solution also exists.
