There’s news about AMD’s RX 9060 XT. Insiders are telling us that AMD could well launch its new RX 9060 XT on May 21. This year, it falls during the Computex trade show in Taipei. The Reds could well use the occasion to announce their card. Be careful, though, as this is just a rumour, so we’ll have to wait and see.
RX 9060 XT: launch on May 21 ?
As for AMD, it’s true that we’re waiting for the next generation of graphics cards, but in the entry/mid-range sector. The reds are already offering us their excellent RX 9070 (XT), and now we need more affordable models.
For this, we should soon have the 9060 XT, a card that may only be available with a 16GB capacity. The latest rumours are that the 8GB version will be cancelled. When you see how the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB performs, it’s easy to understand why AMD doesn’t want to launch this model.
In any case, in terms of configuration, we’re expecting a card running a Navi 44 XT GPU with half the compute unit of an RX 9070 XT. That gives us a configuration with 2048 stream processors. As for memory, we’ll be getting 16GB of GDDR6, all with a 128-bit interface. With a speed of 20 Gbps, the total bandwidth would be 320 GB/s. Finally, we can count on a small PCIe 5.0 x8 bus.
Finally, we’re expecting high frequencies with this model, since the GPU could reach 3.23 GHz in boost mode. A frequency which, if confirmed, would be higher than the 2970 MHz of the RX 9070 XT.
All this to say that the launch is scheduled for May 21. The retail price has yet to be confirmed, but let’s hope it’s lower than that of NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti.
