RX 6750 GRE, just an overclocked version of the RX 6700

New rumors surface concerning the future RX 6750 GRE. Things aren’t looking too good here, as this is simply an overclocked RX 6700 non-XT. Briefly, the 6700 non-XT was originally a laptop card that AMD’s partners turned into a mining card.

RX 6750 GRE, an overclocked RX 6700 beast!

RX 6700 XT

For the record, during the mining crisis, AMD, like NVIDIA, brought out cards adapted to the practice. At AMD, we had the RX 6700, a mobile version adapted to PCIe format. It was this model that our partners positioned as a cryptocurrency mining board.

For the occasion, we had a card featuring a Navi 22 XL GPU with 2304 stream processors. The memory part relied on 10 GB GDDR6 coupled with a 160-bit memory bus. But as well as offering fewer stream processors and less memory than the 6700 XT, the 6700 non-XT also boasted a much lower power consumption limit. This was limited to 175W, compared with 230W for the 6700 XT.

Clearly, AMD plans to use this chip for its RX 6750 GRE(Golden Rabbit Edition). However, in order to give it a facelift, the company could simply increase the power consumption limit and/or push the frequencies upwards.

In any case, as our colleagues point out, the xx50 name is likely to cause serious confusion. Don’t be fooled: this card is not derived from an RX 6750, but from a card with a smaller, lower-performance GPU. All that remains is to see what AMD’s launch plans are: China-only launch or worldwide launch?
