RTX 5090 & co: New indications from Nvidia

0

Nvidia has decided to give us a few new bread crumbs on its RTX 50s. In true Chameleon style, the company has published its own benchmarks, including an RTX 5090 VS 4090 comparison. No surprises here, because if we follow God’s word, the RTX 5090 promises to put the previous generation to shame. Here’s what we learn from the official comparisons.

RTX 5090 vs RTX 4090: David against Goliath?

According to the figures published by Nvidia, we’re talking about a performance gain of between 20% and 33%, without cheating with DLSS or multi-frame generation. In other words, raw performance.

Tests show that the 5090 handles 4K games as if they were 1080p. Full ray tracing, ultra textures, advanced anti-aliasing: everything is creamy. The 4090, despite being a legend in its day, seems to be sweating it out.

RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080: The card that makes you forget about the mid-range

While the 5090 is the star of the show, the RTX 5080 is also the talk of the town. With claimed 18% to 25% higher performance than the 4080, it’s the choice for gamers who want to have their cake and eat it too. The question will always remain, however, when it comes to inflation on the cake…

As far as power consumption is concerned, if Pravda‘s figures are to be believed, Nvidia is going for efficiency: the 5080 is remarkably optimised, and we can even expect praise from Greta Thunberg.

RTX 5070: The sweet spot for gamers?

For those who don’t feel like selling a kidney for a graphics card, the RTX 5070 arrives with some solid arguments. Nvidia has gone back to more modest claims and is announcing performance levels up to 20% higher than the RTX 4070. With David Copperfield’s panoply activated, will it do as well as a 4090? We’ll find out when we can carry out independent, objective, no-pressure tests.

Innovation or marketing?

As we all know, Nvidia has mastered the art of graphics and the superlatives once invented by Apple. These official benchmarks highlight a technological leap forward, but beware of smoke and mirrors. Our independent tests will have to confirm these figures. But if the results are accurate, the RTX 50 series could redefine graphics power, with a host of new technologies that could do PCs a world of good. And this could also affect notebooks, since the latest series of results published by Nvidia focuses on the RTX 5080 notebook GPU compared with the RTX 4080 notebook GPU.
