NVIDIA’s CES 2025 press conference took place last night at around 3:30 a.m. CET, and as expected, the greens announced the arrival of four new graphics cards: the RTX 5090 at a price of $1999 (€2369), the RTX 5080 at $999 (€1190), the RTX 5070 Ti at $749 (€884) and finally the RTX 5070, which starts at $549 (€649). The two top-of-the-range models will be available on January 30, while the other two will arrive in February. This new “RTX 5000” series brings a host of new hardware features, including a PCIe 5.0 interface, GDDR7 memory support and DisplayPort 2.1a.

The NVIDIA RTX 5090, featuring a GB202 chip, confirms its status as a powerhouse, with 2,760 CUDA cores and a 512-bit memory bus. It will feature 32 GB of GDDR7 memory and a TDP of 575 watts.

A Founders Edition version will be available, but as you can see, the design is completely different from that of the previous generation. Despite the RTX 5090’s TDP of 575 watts, the cooling system is limited to two fans. The new vapor chamber and PCB design keep the card “fairly compact”. All four models will feature a single 16-pin power connector.

The NVIDIA RTX 5080 benefits from the GB203 chip and 10752 CUDA cores, that’s 11008 cores less than the RTX 5090, which leads us to say that there’s still likely to be a clear difference in performance between these two models. It features a 256-bit memory bus, 16 GB GDDR7 memory and a TDP of 360 watts.

The other two cards won’t arrive until February, with the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti and its 8960 CUDA cores and 16 GB GDDR7. No Founders Edition is expected for this model. Finally, the NVIDIA RTX 5070 will feature 12 GB GDDR7 memory and 6144 CUDA cores. NVIDIA announced at the conference that it would be twice as fast as the RTX 4070!
