NVIDIA casts its RTX 3050 against the Intel Arc A580!

As we saw yesterday, it would appear that Intel is determined to launch its little Arc A580. Custom models have been spotted on the net. Faced with this threat, NVIDIA could well release a new graphics card, a neutered version of the RTX 3050. Here, we’re playing in the sub-$200 segment. An RTX 4050 could prove too expensive!

An RTX 3050 6GB to rival the Arc A580?

Nvidia RTX 3050

This new competition from Intel is forcing NVIDIA to come up with a new card. However, given the price ranges involved, an RTX 4050 would be too expensive. Remember that the non-Ti RTX 4060 retails for around $300.

To give us something to shout about, the greens might well offer us a small, neutered 3050. The card would be based on a GA107-325 GPU with an unknown number of cuda cores. The memory section would be truncated, with capacity reduced from 8 GB to 6 GB, while the bus would be shortened: 96 bits instead of 128 bits. What’s more, the frequency would also be 17% lower, at 1470 MHz!

All of which brings to mind a laptop chip repurposed on a desktop board PCB. Indeed, the mobile refresh version of the board offers this type of configuration. To be continued.

However, the advantage of offering this type of board lies in its low power consumption of 70W. As a result, the brand’s partners may well offer versions without auxiliary power connectors, unlike the original 3050. The “real” version has a TGP of 115W and requires 8-pin PCIe. What’s more, such a card would offer a very low price, while hopefully providing enough power to play competitive games such as LOL or CS2.

The launch is scheduled for early 2024.
