When we say that the PC component market is not doing well, it is not a pipe dream. After seeing that sales of hard disk, processors and motherboards were down, the same is true for graphics cards. In fact, in China, graphics card shipments have dropped by 42%! It should be noted that this country is one of the largest markets… If not the largest!

For the time being, compared to 2022, card shipments in the Middle Kingdom are down by 42%. There are several reasons for this, including the fall of mining. Indeed, during the period when it was profitable to mine with a graphics card, many farms were set up. The latter being very demanding in components. The same is true for the cybercafés (which are very numerous) that have been converted into farms.

Nevertheless, the stop of GPU mining is not the only reason behind this important decrease. The Chinese New Year is not foreign to this phenomenon either. During this period the factories were running at minimum capacity generating a minimum of activity. In the same vein, we could also mention the various sanctions that the country is facing, especially in the field of semiconductors.

Despite this period of dearth, the Chinese brand Colorful is doing well. In China, it is the player that sold the most cards, ahead of the giants Asus, Gigabyte and MSI. In fourth position, we find Galax, at least that’s what Board Channels.

Compared to December 2022, the month of January saw a timid recovery in activity. Shipments are back up by 9%. But obviously, this phenomenon can be attributed to the various promotional offers aimed at emptying stocks. It remains to be seen whether this rebound will be more sustainable or whether it is only temporary.
