A new survey of Steam users’ hardware for October 2026 shows that the old RTX 3060 is holding its own. In fact, the card—which had temporarily ceded its spot to the RTX 4060—is once again the most widely used card on the platform. As forCPUs, parity between Intel and AMD has still not been achieved, with Intel still holding a slight lead.
Steam: The RTX 3060 Makes a Comeback!Â
The RTX 3060 and RTX 5070 are tied!
Specifically, this new hardware survey reveals that the RTX 3060 is making a comeback as the most widely used gaming graphics card. Indeed, the card currently holds a 3.78% usage share on Valve’s platform, up 0.12% from the previous month. Furthermore, it’s tied with the RTX 5070, which also has a 3.78% share—though that’s down 2.37% from September. It’s worth noting, however, that the RTX 5070 had a 6.15% share the previous month. This isn’t the first time the card has ranked first on Steam; in February 2026, this model had much higher usage percentages. Finally, on the AMD side, the RX 9070 XT holds a 1.59% share, up 0.17% from September.
CPUs: The Never-Ending Battle Between Intel and AMD!Â
When it comes to processors, it’s worth noting that the race is very close between the two competitors, with AMD currently holding a 47.37% share compared to Intel’s 52.63%. It’s worth noting that last month, Intel held a 51.6% market share. Is this a slight, one-off rebound or a longer-term trend? We’ll need to keep an eye on this figure in the coming months.
It’s worth noting, however, that the most common CPU configurations in gamers’ PCs are equipped with 8 cores. These account for 28.63% of the market, down slightly this month (-1.42%). Conversely, models with six cores represent 28.12% of the market, with a small increase of 0.28% in October. Finally, quad-core models remain very prevalent: 11.76%, a fairly sharp increase of +1.39%.
