Core i9-14900KS at 6.20 GHz announced at CES?

A leak seems to confirm the arrival of a future Core i9-14900KS at 6.20 GHz. This processor would be the true pinnacle of the 14th Generation range. It’s worth remembering that since the 12th Generation, Intel has always offered a top-of-the-range CPU under the ” KS ” nomenclature…which is not, however, an absolute rule. If we look at the latest CPUs launched by Intel, the i9-13900KS was the first to reach the 6.00 GHz benchmark. The 14900K is now considered a mature 13900KS. Logically, therefore, the Core i9-14900KS should exceed this 6.00 GHz barrier to reach 6.20 GHz. Of course, this further increase in frequency will come at a TDP of 150W. That’s 25W more than the TDP of the Core i9-14900K.

Will this Core i9-14900KS really be available on the market?

This frequency boost will enable Intel to outperform the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in gaming. If it is indeed unveiled at CES, it will be a great way to promote Intel’s claim to be the world’s best gaming processor… But does this processor really have a chance of reaching the market? Nothing is less certain. Intel still has a few months to go before the arrival of its new generation. This 14900KS will undoubtedly be the subject of a good deal of press coverage, but it represents no commercial stake for Intel.
