Corsair has officially launched its new RM1200e power supply, a 1,200-watt unit featuring a new safety feature designed to protect graphics cards. This model succeeds the 2025 version and is part of the RMe series, offering users of high-end systems a solution to mitigate the risk of damage related to power connectors.

The standout feature of this power supply is its PinProtect system, designed to individually monitor the current flowing through each of the six pins of the native 12V-2×6 connector. Unlike traditional protections that operate at the overall rail level, this mechanism detects current imbalances on a single pin. If a predefined threshold is exceeded for an extended period, the power supply automatically intervenes to limit the power supplied to the GPU.
An automatic shutdown mechanism requiring no configuration
PinProtect operates entirely automatically and requires no software intervention or manual configuration by the user. When the system detects an anomaly, it alters the state of the connector’s sensing wires, which cuts off power to the graphics card. The immediate result for the user is a black screen, indicating that the system must be shut down and checked before it can be turned back on.
Corsair notes that this measure is intended to reduce the risk of overheating and connector damage caused by uneven current distribution, a common issue with 12V-2×6 interfaces. However, the manufacturer has not disclosed the exact current threshold values or the precise activation time of the mechanism. Furthermore, the company states that this protection does not guarantee 100% safety against all possible hardware failures.
Technically, the RM1200e is Cybenetics Platinum certified and complies with ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. It features Japanese capacitors rated for 105 °C and includes a 140 mm fan with Zero RPM mode. The unit, which is 150 mm deep, is fully modular and includes a native 600-watt 12V-2×6 cable with dual-tone connectors to facilitate proper insertion.
Available in black and white, the power supply is priced at $204.99 in the United States, €194.90 in Europe, and £169.99 in the United Kingdom. It comes with a ten-year warranty. Although unveiled at Computex 2026, the RM1200e is now available for purchase from AIB partners and official distributors.
