Also from AMD, we learn that the company is planning to roll out a new firmware update (AGESA 1.0.0.7B). This greatly improves support for DDR5 RAM on AMD processors.
AGESA 1.0.0.7B: AMD boosts RAM support!
For the past two months, the reds have been working on a new firmware update that should be available by the end of the month. Named AGESA 1.0.0.7B, it greatly improves compatibility with high-frequency RAM on the AM5 platform. Indeed, some brands and overclockers are sharing the results obtained following the BIOS update:
- Buildzoid with Ryzen 9 7900X and ASRock B650 LiveMixe: 8000 MT/s
- ASUS ROG X670E Gene with Ryzen 7 7800X3D: 8000 MT/s
- MSI MEG X670 ACE with Ryzen 9 7950X: 8200 MT/s in OC (kit at 7600 MT/s @stock)
- Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master with Ryzen 9 7900X3D: 8000 MT/s
- ASRock X670E Taichi with Ryzen 9 7950X3D: 7200 MT/s in EXPO
As you can see, AMD is making a big leap forward in memory frequency, which is excellent news. What’s more, rumor has it that this update will keep the SOC voltage at a maximum of 1.3V. Finally, we learn that it will be possible to maintain a 1:1 ratio with memory up to 6400 MT/s on many configurations… Not to mention a host of new parameters.
