It kept us busy for quite a while, but the party’s over, according to Intel. Well, according to one of its spokespersons at The Verge. According to Thomas Hannaford, the Vmin Shift problem is over now that patch 0x12B has been deployed.

Vmin Shift: problem officially solved!

Intel patch 0x12B

As a reminder, the instability problem affecting 13th and 14th generation CPUs was corrected in several stages. First, by imposing a basic profile on all motherboards, then by correcting a bug in the eTVB. Next came patch 0x125, which corrected the VID algorithm, and finally 0x12B, which resolved a problem of excessive voltage during idle or low-activity periods. By the way, we gave you a quick update on the status of its deployment here.

In short, according to the Intel spokesperson, the problem has been corrected and is behind us. Of course, to be perfectly sure, you’ll need to update your motherboard’s BIOS. However, our colleagues point out that it’s rather strange that it should be a brand spokesperson who announces the good news and not an official press release.

In any case, the reliability of the patches provided by the company will be measured over time.
